Wearing a Beret: Find Your Fit and Signature Tilt

A beret should sit comfortably around your head without squeezing or slipping. Place its inner band across your forehead, roughly one to two finger widths above your eyebrows, then settle the back near the crown of your head. If the band rides up as soon as you move, pull it down evenly before shaping the top. You should be able to turn your head without needing to catch it.
The band does the work of holding a beret in place; the soft crown creates its shape. Once the band feels secure, smooth the crown over your head with your palms instead of pulling on one small area. Keep the band level if you want a centered look, or shift it slightly for a more angled style. Either way, avoid pushing the band so far back that it loses contact with your forehead.

Women’s 100% Wool Beret – Classic Warmth for All Seasons
For a classic angled look, gently draw the extra fabric toward one ear while leaving the band in place. Start with a modest tilt, then adjust the drape until the beret frames your face without covering an eye. We recommend making that adjustment with both hands: hold the band steady with one hand and guide the crown with the other. This keeps the fit secure while giving you control over the silhouette.
Wool and felt berets often hold a defined shape, so smooth them into place with light pressure rather than repeatedly tugging at the fabric. A softer knit beret may drape more naturally and need less shaping. For either material, keep the band flat against your head and avoid stretching it to create a larger tilt. If the crown looks uneven, lift the beret off and reset it instead of pulling harder.
You can wear a beret over loose hair, with hair tucked behind your ears, or above a low bun. Keep bulky clips away from the band so they do not create a pressure point or lift one side. Before heading out, look at the beret from the front and side, then make one final adjustment to the crown. Our team’s rule is simple: the shape should look intentional, but the fit should still feel easy. For more styling guidance, visit our guide to wearing a beret properly.

Set the band securely across your forehead and around your head, then shape the crown to sit centered or tilt to one side. The beret should stay in place when you move without feeling tight.
There is no required angle, but a beret that slips, blocks your vision, or presses uncomfortably is not positioned well for you. Reset the band first, then adjust the crown without stretching the fabric.
